US Presidencies

US Presidents by Presidency Starts, Terms and Post Presidency Years

George H.W. Bush, who died 30 Nov 2018 at age 94, was the longest-lived president in US history. Here's a look at the lifespans on all US presidents by Presidency Starts, Terms and Post Presidency Years.

John F. Kennedy was the youngest president to die at 46 years and 177 days. In fact JFK died before anyone his age at death has ever become president barring Theodore Roosevelt who became president at 42 years and 322 days.

The average life expectancy of the US Presidents is 71.44 years now , up from 70.86 after George H.W. Bush died. Republican presidents have 3 yr advantage over Democrat Presidents[ 71.80 years vs 68.82 years] .Life expectancy has been increasing dramatically for the presidents since LBJ died at 64. The last four deceased presidents(Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Bush 41) had an average age of 90.6 years at death. At this rate, Clinton , Bush 43 and Trump will probably be around for two more decades and Obama for a 3 and a half decades more.So much for it being a stressful job.

Here's a look at the States(State of Origin) that Presidents are from in a flow map in chronological order :

We need someone from the Non-California West or Mid-West to run in 2020. Vote for Pedro!

Mortality By Weekday by State - 1999-2016

I downloaded the mortality data from the CDC website and plotted the data by state and by day of week the death was reported. I did the same for Deaths Of Despair[ Alcohol/Drug Related deaths, Self Inflicted Firearm related deaths, Depression related deaths]. There were no clear trends to be seen. Nevertheless, there are some interesting observations that can be made. Very few states have  Tuesdays , Wednesdays or Thursdays as leading days of mortality(Both All Cause and Deaths of Despair) which could be people "holding on" till the weekend before passing on. There are clusters of geographical areas which all have the same day of week as the leading day of mortality - for instance the contiguous cluster of  Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Colorado Wyoming, South Dakota and Minnesota all have Saturday as the leading day of all cause mortality and Utah, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas have Sunday as the leading weekday for deaths of despair mortality.

Even though I have the leading days of mortality depicted on the maps, there is no significant difference in the numbers for each of the days when all causes are rolled up, as can be seen from the bar graph below :

There is slight increase in the number of deaths in the weekends , most of it is attributable to vehicular accidents :

California shows a noticeable uptick in deaths from vehicle accidents on Wednesdays :

So , if you live in California , stay home on the weekends and on Wednesdays.
