Federal Firearms License (FFL) Registration Per Capita('000) by State





The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives(ATF) defines a Federal Firearms License (FFL) as "an individual who is licensed to engage in the business of manufacturing, importing and/or dealing in firearms. Persons must be licensed by ATF to engage in the business of firearms". An FFL is classified further into 4 categories and several codes:

Dealer 1 Dealer in Firearms Other Than Destructive Devices (Includes Gunsmiths)
2 Pawnbroker in Firearms Other Than Destructive Devices
9 Dealer in Destructive Devices
Manufacturer 6 Manufacturer of Ammunition for Firearms
7 Manufacturer of Firearms Other Than Destructive Devices
10 Manufacturer of Destructive Devices
Importer 8 Importer of Firearms Other Than Destructive Devices
11 Importer of Destructive Devices
Other 3 Collector of Curios and Relics
